책 소개
This volume outlines the steps to implementing restorative practices in schools. It details the theory and philosophy of restorative justice and how schools have adapted it for different situations; the issue of punishment and whether or not it works for learning; the layers of practice needed for a comprehensive whole-school approach, including preventive work to create a positive culture; positive impacts on the relationships between teachers and students and classroom climate; social and emotional competence, links to learning, and how restorative practice can develop them; and what a restorative school looks like. The second part covers understanding and managing change, including the practical and emotional barriers that might be encountered, as well as leadership aspects, and the final section enumerates eight steps to implementation. It omits instructions about how to facilitate restorative processes in the school or classroom, and lesson plans. Thorsborne and Blood, who are associated with companies that improve how people relate to each other in the workplace, schools, and other communities in Australia, have experience implementing restorative practices in schools.
