책 소개
The Power of Forgiveness is the first comprehensive guide to forgiveness as a healing practice. It artfully unravels how words are often misconstrued words as seemingly basic as forgiveness and even compassion and empathy. And how, although we may understand them as concepts, we seldom have reliable models to put these principles into action. Thus, The Power of Forgiveness offers a sound and reliable roadmap to forgiveness, with a series of written exercises and guided meditations.

Through a mixture of inspiring firsthand accounts, parables, spiritual and philosophical wisdom, and practical exercises, a detailed case is made for the power of forgiveness to open individuals to more joyful and peaceful lives. As illustrated in great detail, rather than perpetuating the suffering so widespread today, we can choose to create a world filled with people willing to be fully accountable for their lives and offer back something more. When we do our part in healing and releasing the wounds of the past, we can finally fully embrace our highest truth: love.

Part I of the book begins by talking about what forgiveness is, what it is not, and why we should undertake this cathartic and often painful process. It may sound elementary, but gaining clarity is an essential foundation for the journey. Most people have false ideas about what forgiveness is and this confusion has the potential to create formidable resistance. Chapters 1 and 2 untangle these ideas, leaving readers primed to focus on the work at hand.

Part II of the book begins with Chapter 3, which guides readers through a framework to facilitate forgiveness. The structure is designed to strengthen the skills we need to forgive fully. Chapter 4 is about the unique aspects of self-forgiveness and forgiving the universe or God.

Part III, comprising Chapters 5 through 8, discusses concepts related to forgiveness that deepen our understanding of this healing practice. Unlike other books on forgiveness, The Power of Forgiveness closes by talking about the impact of personal forgiveness on the world around us, including the implications for justice, providing readers with a reason bigger than themselves to engage in the forgiveness process.
